The EXMAR Group is currently looking for a General Ledger Accountant to strengthen the Accounting & Consolidation team in Antwerp.

Your role in the team

The General Accountant supports the Finance team at the headquarters in Antwerp in managing core accounting and finance activities, including month‑end closing processes and oversight of Accounts Payable tasks. This role is responsible for maintaining the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded, reconciled, and compliant with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

The General Ledger Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager.

Your responsibilities and tasks include:

Take ownership of month-end, quarterly and year-end closings, including journal entries, accruals, amortizations and reclassifications

Manage end-to-end clients & suppliers administration incl. preparation/ registration/ filing/ follow-up of outgoing/incoming invoices, as well as active monitoring and follow-up of outstanding receivables and balances.

Prepare weekly payment proposals and register bank statements.

Take care of tax declaration incl. monthly VAT, yearly customer listing and assisting with corporate income tax administration, also act as key point of contact during tax inquiries or inspections by authorities.

Perform intercompany and balance sheet reconciliations.

Assist the audit team during reviews.

Report figures in the consolidation software, ensuring accuracy, consistency & adherence to group deadlines.

Prepare yearly statutory accounts and perform timely filing of financial statements at NBB

Contribute to upgrades of existing accounting software and automation initiatives

Your profile

Bachelor Accountancy;

Minimum 3 year of experience in a similar position;

You are able to respect internal/external reporting deadlines;

Analytical mindset with a strong sense of ownership, proactivity and independence

Good knowledge of Belgian General Accepted Accounting Principles and VAT;

Extensive knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel in particular);

Fluent in written and spoken English and Dutch.

Strong communication skills and a hands-on mentality
