Accounting Supervisor

eCarsTrade operates a digital platform for the b2b resale of ex-lease cars. We have customers across Europe, and via our proprietary platform we sell a combination of our own stock and on consignment, via auctions and fixed prices.

We have a serious track record of profitable growth: 60% y-o-y for the last 3 y. To replace a departing colleague, we are looking for an accounting supervisor.

Job Content

• You’ll be the CFO’s right hand, building out the finance organization of a fast-growing business

• You’ll be the key link between the internal accounting team, tax advisors, auditors and the finance team, together safeguarding the quality of statutory financial statements

• You’ll supervise operational accounting processes: accounts payable & receivable (incl. booking & matching), batch payments timely month-end + year-end closing (incl. accruals where appropriate)

• You will ensure timely submission of tax and statutory returns, including VAT, corporate income tax, Intrastat, IC listing, etc.

• You’ll use your understanding of accounting operations to improve efficiency by automating wherever possible. You’ll take a leading role in administering the accounting for our branches abroad, including consolidated reporting.

• While automating the accounting process, you’ll collaborate on enhancing the analytical accounting process, including budgeting, forecasting and activity-based costing

• You’ll take an active part in migrating to a new accounting system

Background

• 5-7 years of experience of which

• 1-3 years of hands-on general ledger accounting experience, including month-end close with VAT declarations

• 1-3 years of analytical accounting / controlling / performance management

• 1-3 years of team-lead or supervisory experience leading a team of accountants

• Hands-on group consolidation accounting is a plus

• Strong affinity with inventory management and inventory accounting is a plus

• Knowledge of Belgian GAAP and main tax (VAT, corporate taxation) and payroll principles

• Proficiency with Odoo and Exact online (including data import & export), analytical skills in Excel and familiarity with Tableau are big pluses – in general IT-savvy

• Excellent English languages skills, plus proficiency in either Dutch or French

Profile

• Much more important than your education is your attitude and your ability to learn. A Master’s degree will get you through the door, but so will a bachelor’s degree with some experience – neither is better than the other

• Willingness to dive into the details, understand the nuts and bolts with the team, redesign and improve bottom-up.

• Ability to structurally break down problems, set up analyses and draw conclusions that have a meaningful impact

• Eager to learn, balancing pragmatism with structural solutions: able to strike a balance between quick & dirty fixes that capture low-hanging fruit and long-term solutions that create structural value
